During period 6/21/2021-7/30/2021 Theta Omega Chapter hosted a six-week in-person summer learning program for 6-10 grade students who live principally in Est Louisville. Classroom instructions and field trips were conducted on Monday-Friday of each week at 8:00 am-1:00 pm. The classroom learning experiences were conducted on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors of the Theta Omega Center located at 2422 W. Chestnut Street, Louisville, KY 40211. . All Centers for Disease Control, state and local in-person JCPS school health mandates and guidelines were strictly observed.
The Summer Learning Program was designed to focus rising 9th grade male students on literacy, mathematics, and the skill development required for students to transition to high school. The program also featured a strong emphasis on African American male leadership during this volatile period in these United States of America. Young men were exposed to the academics and decision-making aspects of high school. We theorized that this effort would help these young men to have a successful transition to high school.
Twenty-nine students were enrolled in the program.Four cert
