2025 Theta Omega Talent Hunt

On Friday, March 21st, 2025, the Theta Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. hosted its annual Talent Hunt competition at Burnett Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. This event, a nationally mandated program of the fraternity, serves to highlight and support the artistic achievements of young people in the Louisville community, providing not only recognition but also financial assistance and opportunities for advancement to district and national competitions.

Despite adverse weather conditions and scheduling conflicts with other school events, this year's Talent Hunt remained an example of the fraternity’s continuing commitment to uplifting youth through the arts. The 2025 event, once again organized and emceed by Brother Da’Marrion Fleming, featured two exceptional contestants from Louisville-area high schools.

Opening the evening was Jeremiah Stephens, a talented 10th-grade student from duPont Manual High School, who performed an emotionally resonant a cappella rendition of Emily King's "Never Be Lonely."  Following Jeremiah was Ahmad Jones, a senior at Louisville Central High School, who delivered a powerful version of “I Am Changing,” a classic from the Broadway musical Dreamgirls

After careful deliberation, the judges presented their decision to Brother Fleming for the official announcement.

Jeremiah Stephens was named the runner-up and awarded a $200 scholarship check in recognition of his outstanding performance. Ahmad Jones was declared the winner of the 2025 Talent Hunt and received a $300 scholarship. In addition, Mr. Jones earned the honor of representing the Theta Omega Chapter at the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s 5th District Talent Hunt Competition, to be held in Memphis, Tennessee from March 27th-30th.

Should he succeed at the district level, Ahmad will qualify to compete at the International Talent Hunt, which will take place during the Omega Psi Phi Grand Conclave in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2026. Each level of the competition presents increased opportunities for scholarship awards and broader recognition.

The Talent Hunt program has long stood as another example of Omega Psi Phi’s dedication to academic and cultural excellence among youth. The Theta Omega Chapter continues to uphold this tradition, by offering a platform for gifted students to share their artistry and pursue their dreams. This year’s event, though modest in size, was rich in talent and heart — a reminder that even a small stage can be a platform for excellence.
